Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer touring together this fall

Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer are taking their already very public displays of affection on the road, teaming up for a brief West Coast tour that’s been aptly dubbed “An Evening With Neil Gaiman And Amanda Palmer,” because “Goths Night Out” would be reductive. If that title sounds rather vague and open-ended, Gaiman agrees: “This will be whatever happens when we get together on a stage for two hours,” he says via press release, though the couple does promise “an unusual and intimate few hours of spoken word, songs, stories, and chats with the audience” conducted while the couple is ensconced in a couple of cozy armchairs. “I'm hoping that Amanda's fans will put up with the messy-haired Englishman reading them stories, and that mine will enjoy the beautiful lady signing them songs of angst, post-modernism and woe,” Gaiman says needlessly, because come on.

Meanwhile, Palmer sees the experience as “like an after-hours salon more than a formal show,” and a chance to “provide some serious soul-food all around,” which, mmm, soul food. You may already be a fan of the author of Sandman and the lady from The Dresden Dolls, but just wait until you taste their fried chicken and grits, unless we’re completely misinterpreting that sentence. Bring a plate to the below tour dates anyway, just in case. And finally, if you can't make the shows, Gaiman and Palmer also plan to record and release them—a project which you can help fund through the tour's Kickstarter campaign, which also allows you first crack at tickets, VIP packages, and various promotional merchandise.
