Neil Patrick Harris, a man hateable only for how perfect his family is, has been chosen to host the 87th annual Academy Awards this coming February. Harris has appeared in musical numbers on the Oscars telecast in the past, but this will be his first time hosting the awards ceremony. Harris has hosted the Emmys twice and the Tonys four times, however, leaving him only one Grammys away from a hosting EGOT.
Harris announced the news in predictably adorable fashion on something called MobyPicture that, frankly, made us feel a little out of touch. [UPDATE: So much so, we couldn’t get it to embed properly. Sorry about that.] Hey, there’s something to hate him for! No other details are available at this time, but presumably there will be several musical numbers and no Mr. Skin jokes this year.
