Neil Patrick Harris to host something else

Spike TV has chosen alpha host Neil Patrick Harris to preside over its annual Video Game Awards—because if you don’t book Neil Patrick Harris to host your awards show, he’s just going to show up and sing something anyway. Having spent the past few years emceeing the Tonys, the Emmys, the TV Land Awards, and the Wisconsin Butter Sculpture Follies, Harris is expected to bring some “added attention and viewers” to the annual celebration of the video game industry, ostensibly attracting people who don’t particularly care about video games but just enjoy seeing Harris in one of the two-dozen tuxedos he must keep pressed and at the ready. Other presenters this year include the cast of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Olivia Munn, Guillermo Del Toro, Dane Cook, Chris Hemsworth, Tony Hawk, Nick Swardson, Nathan Fillion, and Denise Richards, star of the Assassin’s Creed competitor Dress Up Denise Richards.
