Nerdbait news: Star Trek delayed, Indy 4 trailer debuts
Because my esteemed colleague Jason Heller fears a public lynching should he post yet another update on the new Star Trek, it falls to me to report that the J.J. Abrams reboot, originally scheduled for a Christmas Day debut, has had its release date pushed back to May 2009. And no, the writers' strike isn't to blame: Paramount simply believes the film has a "greater gross potential as a summer tentpole." All you anticipant Trekkies pitching your own tentpoles will just have to wait. But fortunately there's another reason for franchise fans to rejoice: The teaser trailer for Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull debuted today, and goddamned if it doesn't look pretty fucking good. The whip, the fedora, that rousing John Williams score, Cate Blanchett sporting an oddly titillating, severe Louise Brooks cut, and best of all, a minimum of Shia The Beef. We're there.
