Netflix and some Canadian network renew Between

Netflix and unlikely ally City, a Canadian television network, have renewed Between for a second season, Variety reports. As part of the unique collaboration, Between—which envisions a town where everyone over 21 is killed by a mysterious outbreak—first airs on the City network on Thursday night, then streams a few hours later on Netflix so the rest of the world can get its YA entertainment fix. As a result, Between is the first Netflix show to release one episode per week, an antiqued broadcasting model that probably seems like a distant memory by now. The first season consisted of six hour-long episodes, and the second season will follow suit. But let’s hope season two isn’t as disappointing as the first, which only offers an attractive cast as recompense for subpar execution.
