Netflix announces premiere dates for Daredevil and Kimmy Schmidt, further plans to monopolize your time

The Television Critics Association winter press tour is underway in Pasadena, and just like a growing number of viewers, the TCA has opted to push traditional broadcasters aside to start things off with a Netflix binge. Among the original series paneling at the event, several received official premiere dates this morning: Marvel’s debut Netlflix effort, Daredevil, is set to debut Friday, April 10 (just in time to help you procrastinate on your taxes), while the recently acquired Tina Fey-Robert Carlock comedy The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt bows March 6. Kyle Chandler and Linda Cardellini will unearth deep, dark family secrets in Bloodline beginning March 20, and Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin come to the Internet box you’ll need to explain to your mom on May 8, the premiere date for the Fonda-Tomlin vehicle Grace And Frankie.

And because it can’t hog all of your time with new shows, Netflix also announced a 10-episode second season of Marco Polo, one that will hopefully ditch the eponymous explorer to spend more time with America’s continent-conquering sweetheart, Kublai Khan. Netflix also knows its subscribers’ time is not cheap, so it won’t waste it with any boring confirmations of another Arrested Development season. Instead, Netflix chair Ted Sarandos continues to do his little chicken dance around a fifth season of Bluth family merry mix-ups. Sarandos was quoted by TV Line as saying “I’ve been very optimistic about how it all comes together. [Arrested Development is a] very complicated show to do, considering how busy the entire cast is. Everyone is trying to make it happen.” Until they do make it happen, however, Netflix has plenty of content to help fill the idle hours.
