Netflix confirms Orange Is The New Black's next season will be its last

It’s been a likely possibility for a while now that Orange Is The New Black’s sentence might almost be up; the Netflix series is coming to the end of its current three-season order, and ended last year’s run—its sixth—by finally seeing Piper Chapman get released from jail to become the deeply privileged decorative soap magnate she was always meant to be.

Now, the show’s cast has confirmed that the upcoming seventh season will be the series’ last, releasing a video thanking their fans for their support of one of Netflix’s first big original programming hits. Taylor Schilling, Uzo Aduba, Kate Mulgrew, Danielle Brooks—whose Taystee has become the series’ rawest heart—and the rest of the women of Litchfield all recorded videos bidding each other (and their fans) farewell to commemorate the occasion.

OITNB typically releases a new season of episodes in June or July, so we’ll presumably see the show reach whatever ending point it’s been driving toward for the last five years some time in Summer 2019.
