Netflix grabs Ben Stiller’s chopped-off-dick comedy

Netflix has come out on top in a competitive bidding war for Eggplant Emoji, a new film from Ben Stiller and the Workaholics crew. Penned by Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider, who produce the bizarro web series Gentlemen Lobsters for GQ and Seeso, the film is about a group of teens working to overcome the usual adolescent problems: girls, peer pressure, and one of their members getting his dick chopped off in the middle of a camping trip. “The intent is to make a comedy in the vein of Superbad, something that focused on friendship but throbbed with insane situations and R-rated language,” described The Hollywood Reporter, using up several of the better penis puns, and forcing the rest of us to scrabble in the dirt for material.

Stiller will produce the film, along with Blake Anderson, Adam Devine, Anders Holm, and Kyle Newacheck, all from Comedy Central’s Workaholics. The quartet recently sold their own movie, Game Over, Man! to Netflix, with Newacheck set to direct.
