Netflix launches tour of Arrested Development banana stand, in which there is always advertising money

Uncertain as to whether the viral campaigns, posters and production photos, near-daily guest star “leaks,” and seven years of anticipatory talk is enough to properly build buzz for the return of Arrested Development, Netflix has moved its promotional efforts into the larger physical realm by building an actual banana stand, just like on the show. Bluth’s Original Frozen Banana Stand can currently be found in Wee Britain—also known as “Britain”—where it’s popping up in different locations all around London, providing a fun diversion from the hourly appearances of Merry Poppuns today, May 9, May 15, and May 21.

After that the stand will no longer be For British Eyes Only—which is a reference to the show Arrested Development—as it makes the trip back to the U.S. to delight American fans and gradually wear on the nerves of all the Mr. Managers tasked with running it, as they’re asked, over and over, whether there’s any money in their banana stand. (See also: jokes about meeting at the “Big Yellow Joint;” people hilariously trying to set it on fire.) You can track the banana stand’s movements on Twitter via @ArrestedDev, which may or may not also provide information on the promised “special surprise appearances by the Bluth family and friends,” depending on whether the guy running it is a pussy.
