Netflix needs tall girls to audition for its new movie, Tall Girl
Netflix will soon begin production on a new original comedy, Tall Girl, a John Hughesian story of a 16-year old’s struggles with her height. McG’s Wonderland production company will oversee a production led by Grey’s Anatomy alum Nzingha Stewart, but what the movie still needs is a lead.
A press release says that the producers are “in search of tall girls from all over the world to audition for the part of the female lead: 16 year old Jodi, who – at more than six feet tall – has to go above and beyond to survive high school while struggling with the constant label of being her school’s tall girl.” Auditions are open to any girl between the ages of 13 and 21 that clocks in at over 5’10”.
“Tall Girl is about all the places where we feel awkward or tender, and learning not only to accept those places, but to shower them with unconditional and radical love,” Stewart said in a statement.
Jodi’s story finds her falling for a hunky, also-tall foreign exchange student named Stig. There’s also mention of a love triangle and a best friend named Dunkleman, who we’re just gonna go ahead and assume is the Ducky of the Tall Girl universe.
“One of the many reasons we’re excited to make Tall Girl is the refreshing way it speaks to this audience with humor and heart about embracing what makes them different and special using height as a framing device,” says Melissa Cobb, vice president of kids and family at Netflix. “We look forward to canvassing the world for our very own Tall Female Lead who can draw on her unique experience to authentically depict the challenges and the lessons wrapped up in this tricky stage of life.”
Interested parties can head here, where submissions will be accepted between November 5 and 21. Tall Girl begins shooting in January of 2019. No Slenderwomen allowed.
