Netflix presents Seinfeld reruns of a different sort

Here’s what’s up in the world of television for Tuesday, September 19. All times are Eastern.

Top pick

Jerry Before Seinfeld (Netflix): In this hybrid of stand-up special and documentary retrospective, Jerry Seinfeld goes back to where it all began—not only his parents’ home on Long Island, but also The Comic Strip, the New York club where he first cut his teeth as a purveyor of observations and “What’s the deal?”s. (While also, as it’s been widely publicized, dusting off and performing some of his earliest material.) Dennis Perkins likes the cut of this Seinfeld kid’s jib, and sees big things for him in the future.

Regular coverage

BoJack Horseman (Netflix)
The Mindy Project (Hulu)
American Horror Story (FX, 10 p.m.)

Wild card

Conan Without Borders: Israel (TBS, 10 p.m.): Conan O’Brien’s side career as a travel-show takes him to the Middle East, where he played traffic cop, fed table scraps to Benjamin Netanyahu’s dog, and shopped at the only store in Jerusalem dedicated to the University Of Alabama.
