Netflix renews Bloodline for another season of family dysfunction
Just over a week after releasing the first season of Bloodline, Deadline reports that Netflix has renewed the series for a second season. The family drama, created by Damages team Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman and Glenn Kessler, will head back into production later this year, with the second season slated for release in 2016.
Even if you haven’t binged your way through to the end yet, it’s hard to imagine exactly how the series will manage to sustain its story considering the explosive (and seemingly conclusive) ending teased throughout the first season. It’s not that series can’t survive even after major narrative shifts or character deaths—Game Of Thrones can attest to that. But it’s hard to picture a whole new season of Bloodline. A second season could deal with the aftermath of season one’s tragic ending, but that would mean shifting away from the show’s narrative structure, unless there’s still more to uncover about the Rayburn’s past. Regardless, we won’t complain about a whole new season of Kyle Chandler in sweaty shirts or Linda Cardellini clutching bottles of cheap beer.
