Netflix renews Narcos for a second season
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix has just said yes to another season of Narcos. The Narcos team figured the streaming giant might want another bump and began stocking up on writers as far back as April. THR also reports that Adam Fierro (The Walking Dead, The Shield) will replace Chris Brancato as showrunner, as Brancato has left to work on ABC’s sexy take on Bible dramas, Of Kings And Prophets.
Narcos stars Wagner Moura as Colombian kingpin Pablo Escobar, the violent “visionary” who expanded his cartel’s distribution into the United States and eventually cornered 80 percent of the global cocaine market. Boyd Holbrook and Pedro Pascal play DEA agents Steve Murphy and Javier Peña, two of the men who are trying to bring Escobar down. Despite the well-worn voiceover conceit, TV Club found the first season “surprisingly effervescent.”
