Netflix’s Daredevil is preoccupied with morality in the first full-length trailer
Netflix recently toyed with our emotions by giving us a teaser for a teaser that offered several seconds of “The Man Without Fear” navigating a darkened hallway. With the entire first season of Daredevil arriving on April 10, Netflix has finally given us the full-length teaser-trailer we deserve.
The preview opens with the superhero’s alter ego, Matt Murdock, making his confession. Murdock reveals the conflict of a lawyer who is tempted by the effectiveness of vigilante justice. Meanwhile, Daredevil characters make split-second appearances, including Foggy Nelson, Karen Page (True Blood’s Deborah Ann Woll), Scott Glenn as Daredevil’s mentor “Stick,” and a rear shot of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin. Rosario Dawson is also in there, but her Claire Temple character has historically been associated with Luke Cage—which is a little weird because he’s getting his own Netflix series, and he isn’t reported to appear in Daredevil, at least not yet.
After the cast montage (and a somewhat bleak picture of New York), the teaser finally delivers Daredevil himself, getting his hands dirty as he takes on the criminal underground with echolocation, gymnastics, and metal batons. A closing shot of a bloodied, face-down Daredevil suggest that things won’t always go smoothly for him as he learns the ways of nocturnal, costumed crime-fighting in Hell’s Kitchen.
