Netflix sets a date for The Punisher's latest—and probably final—showdown

By the end of the first season of Marvel’s The Punisher, Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) had found a small measure of peace—and a presidential pardon. He’d also made certain that his traitorous old buddy Billy Russo (Ben Barnes) could no longer hide his wrongdoings behind a handsome face and perfect coiffure. Of course, once a second season was confirmed, it was only a matter of time before he got back into the vigilante business. Thanks to the newest teaser for season two, we now know exactly when that will be. The clip also reminds us how much Frank and Billy have in common, traumatic parallels that Barnes touched on in a recent interview with io9.

Their imminent confrontation is also a kind of parting shot, as Netflix recently put most of the Defenders out of work (though there’s still a third season of Jessica Jones in the works).

The Punisher season two premieres January 18 on Netflix. Look for our pre-air and episodic coverage.
