Netflix stirs the pot with two very different trailers for its Amanda Knox documentary
If you are highly suspect of Amanda Knox’s claims to innocence for the 2007 killing of Meredith Kercher—for which she spent four years in an Italian prison—then this new Netflix documentary might be for you. However, if you do believe her account of that very strange and confusing murder case that gripped the world—for which she was ultimately acquitted—then this new documentary might also be for you. Neither the streaming network nor the filmmakers behind Amanda Knox seem willing to pick a side. So they’ve released two separate trailers, the one above titled “Believe Her” with tinkly concerned music, and another titled “Suspect Her” with waahm-waahm scary music.
After nearly 10 years and and countless hours of talking heads pontificating over the likelihood of Knox’s guilt, it seems unlikely that this documentary will change many minds. And for every one it does, it will probably change another in the opposite direction, In other words, this seems like a pretty fitting ad campaign.
Amanda Knox will debut on Netflix on September 30.
