Netflix to add audio description tracks for the visually impaired

Netflix will add audio-description tracks to select programs for blind and visually impaired subscribers, Variety reports. The new service—which will add extra narration to describe non-verbal events happening on screen, such as physical movements, fight sequences, facial expressions, and transitions between scenes—will, appropriately enough, first be added to Marvel’s Daredevil.

Over time, Netflix hopes to provide audio description for all major Netflix original releases, as well as additional shows and movies. In the coming weeks, Netflix plans to audio-describe original shows in addition to Daredevil, including all seasons of House Of Cards, Orange Is The New Black, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Hopefully the audio description will be as specific and detailed as possible for Titus Andromedon’s hit single “Peeno Noir.”
