New 10 Cloverfield Lane trailer reveals all the paranoid details

Finally, a trailer for the person who hates leaving anything to the imagination! Actually, despite being about 10 times more blunt than the first one, this new minute-long ad for the upcoming 10 Cloverfield Lane is still effective. Everything that was merely implied before is now laid out in a straightforward voiceover from John Goodman’s character. Yes, it’s his bunker. Yes, he claims to be keeping Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s character safe from whatever is outside—because, as he stresses, “everyone out there is dead.” And yes, she clearly suspects something else might be going on.

Whereas the previous trailer saw Winstead’s mad dash to freedom end before she could leave, here she actually makes it outside. There, we see a light from behind a house illuminate the sky, suggesting Goodman might not be some manipulative sadist after all. Dan Trachtenberg’s film comes out March 11, so there’s still plenty of time for you to spoil the whole thing if you so choose: A quick Google search will bring you the original screenplay for the film, so that you—unlike Mary Elizabeth Winstead—can know ahead of time exactly what you’re dealing with.
