The first trailer for The Angry Birds Movie featured a lone angry bird, Red (Jason Sudeikis), who mostly just came across as a rude jerk. We get it, no one really wants a Josh Gad-voiced bird to wave its butt in their faces, but Red’s feathers were far too easily ruffled. The latest trailer for the movie tries to garner sympathy for the ornery fellow, who was teased for his heavy eyebrows as a child and has always felt like an outsider. In addition to Red’s backstory, we learn that the green pigs pioneered the slingshot technology that will one day be turned against them. There’s also an extended scene of an eagle peeing, to take the edge off the imperialist undertones.
The Angry Birds Movies hits theaters, possibly aided by slingshot, on May 20.
