New Blade Runner 2049 trailer declares war
Now that the first Blade Runner 2049 trailer has (mostly) set minds at ease about this follow-up to the 1982 sci-fi classic, Warner Bros. has released a new preview that delves further into the first meeting between Deckard (Harrison Ford) and LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling). The aging replicant tells the increasingly less skeptical cop that his kind has been hunted down shortly before a small aircraft busts into his hideout, proving his point. Tensions are running high throughout, as K also battles Dave Bautista, who’s presumably playing an outdated replicant model. This leads to K’s superior officer, played by Robin Wright, speculating that war’s coming. And while we’re sure General Antiope can hold her own, the LAPD also has to deal with the machinations of replicant manufacturer Neander Wallace (Jared Leto in “eccentric billionaire” mode).
Growing conflict aside, this second look at Denis Villeneuve’s film is narrower in scope than the first, allowing us to get a better feel for whose side Officer K will take. Blade Runner 2049 hits theaters October 6, 2017.
