New Bravo series will see if friends can fall in love
After finding an endless supply of reality TV success in people who hate all of their friends and do nothing but talk about how much they hate their friends, throw parties with their friends, and then talk about how much they hate their friends some more, Bravo is moving on to people who actually love their friends. Like, love love. Like, they love each other so much that they’re sitting in a tree and k-i-s-s-i-n-g. The “social experiment docuseries”—as Variety puts it—is titled Friends To Lovers? and it will focus on five couples who are risking their status as best friends in order to see if they can handle an actual romantic relationship with each other.
If the preview that Bravo released is anything to go by, the show will involve a few awkward selfies, serious conversations about ruining a friendship, and a lot of nudity. Sometimes the couples will be naked, sometimes they’ll be drawing stick figures of naked people, and sometimes the viewer will be naked—we assume. Frankly, we’re just glad that TV is finally tackling the issue of whether or not people who are friends should start dating. You know, other than the million times that TV show Friends did it, not to mention every other sitcom ever. Friends To Lovers? is about real people, though, so when one of these friends cheats on the other friend while they’re on a break, it’ll be sad instead of funny. The series will premiere on Bravo on January 12.
