New Cloverfield movie replaces The God Particle
We learned earlier this year that Julius Onah’s The God Particle would be part of producer J.J. Abrams’ Cloverfield universe, though it wasn’t entirely clear how a movie the sci-fi thriller would make its way there. After all, the film—which stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw, David Oyelowo, and John Krasinski—is set in space, not in a Cloverfield monster-ravaged town. But the project has undergone various changes, including a rewrite from Star Trek Beyond’s Doug Jung. Some recent findings have further mystified the film, as Deadline reports that Paramount has removed The God Particle from its schedule while announcing a new Cloverfield movie. The former was due out February 24, 2017, but has been dropped from the schedule while a Cloverfield film without a subtitle or any other nouns has found its way to an October 27, 2017 debut. Actually, that new Cloverfield movie will have an IMAX release, which suggests this was a bit of rebranding rather than a decommissioning of a Bad Robot picture.
