New Girl creator Liz Meriwether is taking Fox to Antarctica

According to Variety, New Girl creator Liz Meriwether has just sold a comedy project to Fox called Thin Ice. The show has a “pilot production commitment,” which means a pilot will get made at the very least, and the Variety story says it will center around a woman who follows her very weird dream to live in Antarctica. Rather than simply focusing on a single, solitary woman living in an endless, icy wasteland, the dream-haver will also be “surrounded by a group of brilliant misfits.”

In a statement, Meriwether referred to Antarctica as “the sexiest place on earth” and claimed that the pilot will be filmed on location, but Variety seems convinced that she was joking about both points for some reason. The project is “on the fast-track” and will go into production early next year. Also, for anyone concerned about the future of New Girl, Variety says Thin Ice has “no connection” to the other show’s future, and that Fox will decide whether or not to renew it in the spring.
