New Girl renewed for a sixth season
Fox has added another title to its roster of returning sitcoms for the 2016-17 TV season: Following the renewals of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Last Man On Earth, the network has ordered a sixth season of New Girl. “Every network comedy should aspire to what Liz Meriwether is achieving in New Girl, with its bravura dialogue, inventive and witty performances by the talented cast and emotionally engaging storytelling,” stated Fox’s president of entertainment David Madden.
Madden forgot to mention the show’s hysterically overcrowded loft setting, which is due to receive additional visitors as the wedding of Schmidt and Cece brings New Girl’s fifth season to a close. Megan Fox and Damon Wayans Jr. will reprise their roles as Reagan and Coach, Nora Dunn and Peter Gallagher will return as Schmidt’s parents, and Kal Penn completes the season’s Harold And Kumar bingo card following John Cho’s one-off appearance in January.
