New Girl’s Max Greenfield is the latest addition to American Horror Story: Hotel

Deadline reports that Max Greenfield is the latest addition to American Horror Story: Hotel, which is not a scathing documentary about the hospitality industry’s treatment of its housekeeping staff, but rather the latest entry in Fox’s American Horror Story anthology series. Greenfield is best known for playing cocksure womanizer Schmidt on Fox’s New Girl, but a casting tweet from producer Ryan Murphy suggests that he’ll be dispensing with his bro identity for this role:

This October, Max Greenfield (like you’ve never seen him) is checking in to the hotel….but not checking out. #AHSHotel

While it’s possible that Murphy is spoiling the Motor Lodge Of Horror’s automated checkout system, it’s more likely a reference to Greenfield getting his comeuppance for all of Schmidt’s douchebaggery on New Girl. Greenfield joins a growing cast of new and returning players, including Chloe Sevigny, Lady Gaga, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Wes Bentley, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Matt Bomer, and Cheyenne Jackson.

Having already covered horrible real estate, horrible mental institutions, a horrible rivalry between Salem and voodoo witches, and a delightful freak show, Hotel is the logical next step forward in the series, paving the way for future installments such as American Horror Story: Lenscrafters, American Horror Story: Rotary Club, American Horror Story: Standardized Testing, and American Horror Story: 2016 Republican National Convention.
