New Gotham season two teaser introduces even more bad guys
The new teaser for Gotham’s second season is only 30 seconds long but introduces multiple new antagonists, while leaving out Michael Chiklis’ “law-and-order zealot.” It does come with the handy subtitle, “Rise Of The Villains,” just in case you missed the theme of the new season. The subtitle also serves as yet another reminder that we’re still dealing with a pre-Batman world, which means that David Mazouz’s growth spurts won’t be incorporated into the story any time soon.
Set to a cover of Duran Duran’s “Hungry Like The Wolf,” the teaser opens with Detective Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) threatening Commissioner Loeb (Peter Scolari) before entering into some kind of alliance with Robin Lord Taylor’s Penguin. Then it’s a flipbook of villainous visages, including the Galavans, the Ogre, the Joker, and Victor Zsasz. That’s a pretty daunting list, but since the teaser ends with the words “the wolf” sung over an image of Gordon looking himself in the mirror, it’s not entirely clear who’s hunting whom.
Season two of Gotham premieres on Fox on September 21.
