New High-Rise trailer traps you in its madness

A new trailer—much more somber and ominous than the first—has been released for High-Rise, Ben Wheatley’s adaptation of the J.G. Ballard novel of the same name. The trailer shows Dr. Robert Laing’s (the ever-transforming Tom Hiddleston) descent into party madness, brought on by the thrill-seeking residents of his new high-rise apartment that has everything you could ever need all within its walls. Things get very weird very quickly. The lesson is very clear: Don’t move into a high-rise. It looks fun…until it doesn’t. The film also stars Sienna Miller, Elisabeth Moss, Luke Evans, and Jeremy Irons.

Set in 1975, High-Rise has been getting generally positive buzz since it debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2015. After all, The A.V. Club’s own Ignatiy Vishnevetsky called it “something I genuinely dig”—high praise for High-Rise, even though he also notes some of the flaws in the direction.

High-Rise will hit U.K. theaters on March 18. A U.S. release date has not been set.
