A promo copy of Leonard Cohen's first album in eight years, Old Ideas, finally arrived at The A.V. Club last week, and our initial take is probably what you'd expect: it's austere, throaty, smoky, creepy, and crawly. In other words, it sounds like the latest song from Old Ideas, "Going Home," to appear online. You'll also notice the prominent use of backing singers in the song's latter half, though for most of Old Ideas it's Cohen's distinctive, Book Of Revelations rasp that takes center stage.
