New Ninja Turtles photo confirms Casey Jones will have hockey stuff
Ever since Arrow’s Stephen Amell was cast as Casey Jones, hockey-loving vigilante of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles universe, in the upcoming TMNT 2, fans have been wondering, “Am I just a creation of the media, or do I actually self-identify as a ‘fan’ of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies? Who am I, demographically speaking? And who am I talking to about my supposed fandom?” They’ve also been wondering whether hockey-loving vigilante Casey Jones will have some hockey stuff.
This morning, producer Michael Bay tweeted out a photo confirming that he does. Casey has both a hockey mask and a hockey stick. Here he is with his hockey stuff.
Fan reaction was swift, ranging from “Whatever” to “needs more gear than 1 hockey stick tho” to people trying to hit on Flash star Grant Gustin. All in all, a very exciting day for the film.
Anyway, while Casey’s mask is unusually large and pointy, possibly owing to extraterrestrial origin, you can’t deny it would be pretty useful for playing hockey, or playing vigilante. And his stick appears to be regulation, which is reassuring for those who worried this franchise about mutant turtles might be taking too many fanciful liberties. In fact, the most unbelievable thing about this photo is that Amell is wearing a shirt.
TMNT 2 will be released in June 2016. It will also have turtle stuff.
