New Radiohead album will be available digitally by Feb. 19
When it rains it pours for fans of blue-chip rock bands with impeccable indie pedigrees. Just a few hours after Arcade Fire suddenly made the Grammys meaningful again for people who proudly wear their ignorance of Katy Perry and Lady Antebellum songs on their sleeves, Radiohead announced the release of its new, so-called “newspaper” album, The King Of Limbs. Unlike with Radiohead's previous record, 2007's "pay-what-you-will" In Rainbows, you’re going to have to pay a fixed price this time: The King Of Limbs will be available digitally on Feb. 19 for $9 for MP3s or $14 for WAV. The vinyl-CD-digital package (which ships May 9) isn’t cheap—it’s $48 for the album plus MP3s, and $53 for the album plus WAV files—but Radiohead isn’t skimping on the packaging. According to the band’s website, you’ll get:
• Two clear 10" vinyl records in a purpose-built record sleeve.
• Many large sheets of artwork, 625 tiny pieces of artwork and a full-color piece of oxo-degradeable plastic to hold it all together.
• One lucky owner of the digital version of The King Of Limbs, purchased from this website, will receive a signed 2-track 12" vinyl.
