New season of It’s Always Sunny will have a musical and Scott Bakula
FXX renewed It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia for two more seasons last spring, which will make the show the longest-running live-action comedy series (in a tie with The Adventures Of Ozzie & Harriet) ever. With season 12 in production, this raises the question of just what executive producers Rob McElhenney, Glenn Howerton, and Charlie Day have in store for the depraved Paddy’s crew. The gang’s recently been to hell and back, sort of, so what else can happen to up the ante? Well, Charlie Day talked about the plans for season 12, which will include some more brawling, in an interview with Red Carpet Roxy.
If you made it past the portentous music, you learned that the new season will have a full musical episode, though Day wouldn’t say whether it would be a sequel to “The Nightman Cometh.” (Given the subtext, we’re not 100% sure we’d want to see that, either, but a musical sounds good otherwise). Day also mentions the UFC, as well as a water park and Scott Bakula—maybe the Quantum Leap Accelerator’s been replaced with a water slide? Bakula is reportedly guest starring in the musical episode, which shouldn’t be too tough for him—he once played Joe DiMaggio on Broadway.
