Although The Force Awakens and the upcoming anthology movies have grabbed most of the internet’s free-floating Star Wars enthusiasm, Disney XD’s animated Rebels series won’t let itself be counted out. The show debuted a new trailer today at the New York Comic-Con, throwing in a bunch of new footage to go along with the sneak peeks served up at Celebration earlier this year.
Of course, it wouldn’t be Star Wars without some familial mysteries, so young Jedi-wannabe Ezra will be wrestling with new hints and questions about his missing parents. Meanwhile, graffiti-flinging provacateur Sabine picks up a foil in the form of a female bounty hunter, and renegade Padawan Ahsoka Tano—whose connection to her former master, Anakin Skywalker (James Earl Jones, reprising his role as Darth Vader) looks like it’s going to be a big plot point this year—faces off against the Seventh Sister, Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Sith-y new villain. Plus, a bunch of explosions, lightsaber duels, and potential pirate Jedi, all in the service of reminding people how surprisingly fun this series can be.
