New ThunderCats series on the way
Although it's enjoying a robust existence over in the slash-fic world, ThunderCats is about to see an honest-to-gosh, full-scale revival. A new production of the beloved '80s cartoon is coming soon, based as before on the exploits of the ass-kicking astro-cats Lion-O, Panthro, Tygra, Cheetara, WilyKit, WilyKat, Snarf, and their nemesis, that ball-of-yarn-in-human-form, Mumm-Ra. Says SuperHeroHype, Warner Brothers is developing the new series with Japan's Studio 4°C; the show will debut on Cartoon Network in 2011.
It's just too bad Stephen Perry, a writer for the original Rankin-Bass ThunderCats, won't get a chance to see (let alone work on) the reboot. As reported by LA Weekly, the destitute, cancer-stricken, 56-year-old man was reported dead last week, after police found his severed arm lying in his van outside a Tampa hotel. May the Eye Of Thundera watch over you, sir.
