New trailer for Left Behind has more Nic Cage, more rapturous mayhem
The Rapture is really hot right now. HBO’s The Leftovers is currently doing its best to hold onto subscribers until Game Of Thrones and True Detective come back, and Nicolas Cage is starring in a remake of Left Behind, so people must be really into the idea of all the good Christians being sucked up to heaven while the rest of us get stuck here to fend for ourselves. This new trailer for that Left Behind remake shows a little bit more of what it would be like if a big chunk of the world’s population suddenly disappeared, and at the risk of spoiling the movie, it basically involves a lot of plane crashes and tearful pleas for God’s forgiveness. The nice thing about this trailer, though, is that it provides little glimpses of backstory to explain why some of these people get Left Behind. Nicolas Cage, for example, looks at another woman while in a parking lot. That’s a big no-no in Christianity.
Left Behind is based on Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins’ 1995 novel of the same name. If it takes off, look for Cage and Chad Michael Murray to star in adaptations of its 15 prequels and sequels. We’re not sure the Internet could handle that much excitement, though.
