Next James Bond film will arrive in 2012

Long waylaid by the very unsexy and unsophisticated money troubles of MGM, the James Bond series is finally back on track with a little help from Sony. The two studios will co-finance and co-distribute Bond 23, which has yet to be officially titled (though honestly, we wouldn’t mind seeing a mash-up where Daniel Craig kicks the shit out of Jim Carrey’s numerology-obsessed character from The Number 23). Barring any further announcements, Sam Mendes is still attached to direct Craig, and the studio has set a premiere date of Nov. 9, 2012. So confident are they about this new arrangement, in fact, that they’ve already announced tentative plans to get together on Bond 24, which should be reassuring to fans. Of course, now that everyone is watching their investment closely, perhaps Bond will need to keep himself to a strict budget.
