Nick Cave: King Ink II

Nick Cave: King Ink II

Nick Cave is one of the more interesting songwriters making music today, but would you pay 12 dollars for his lyric sheets? Aside from a weird film treatment, a few Xeroxed pen-and-ink drawings, and one genuinely interesting essay on the relationships between imagination, the written word, and the Bible, King Ink II consists mostly of the lyrics to Cave's songs. That's a shame, because the first King Ink padded out its song lyrics with a lot more extra material. Cave is an accomplished writer of prose; his novel And The Ass Saw The Angel is a minor masterpiece of religious fascination and the exploration of American iconography. It's also still in print, as are his albums, which relegates this songbook—as good as it is—to for-fans-only status.
