Nick Lowe is a towering figure in the history of British rock music. His biggest contribution is penning “(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love, And Understanding,” which became a worldwide smash for Elvis Costello, but Lowe also has an impressive solo career of his own, and a lengthy list of important production credits (The Damned, Costello’s first five albums, and more.) Last year, Lowe released a holiday album called Quality Street: A Seasonal Selection For All The Family, and this year he’s decided to tour with some of those holiday songs—backed by the masked marauders of Los Straitjackets. Here, Lowe takes on the jaunty “I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday” by the British glam band Wizzard. Lowe is on tour (“the Quality Holiday Revue”) right now, and the dates are below. This is the first Holiday Undercover of 2014; we expect there will be four or five total. Enjoy!
