Nickelodeon invites you to Enter The Florpus with first footage from the Invader Zim reboot
One of the chief pleasures of a reboot is seeing your favorite characters again, and that’s—well, that’s about all you’ll get from the sneak peek of Nickelodeon’s upcoming animated TV movie Invader Zim: Enter The Florpus. Set to an ominous, at times downright Roland Emmerich-esque orchestral score, the teaser works as a sort of extended opening-credits sequence, letting us see, but not hear, Zim, Gir, Dib, Gaz, and Zim’s alien overlords the Almighty Tallest in action.
Invader Zim debuted on Nickelodeon in 2001, and lasted a mere 27 episodes before it was sent back into the incompetent depths of space from which it fumbled. The trailer follows a panel about the reboot at Comic-Con in San Diego, from which The A.V. Club received the following synopsis:
In INVADER ZIM: Enter The Florpus, ZIM discovers his almighty leaders have no intention of coming to Earth and he loses confidence in his own amazingness for the first time in his amazing life, which is the big break his human nemesis Dib has been waiting for. At some point, GIR rides a tiny donkey, and that’s all anyone should really care about.
Invader Zim: Enter The Florpus will reunite the voice cast of the original series; it has yet to announce a release date.
