Nickelodeon pulls the final five episodes of The Legend Of Korra

This Friday’s episode of Nickelodeon’s The Legend Of Korra will be the last to air on television, at least for the foreseeable future. The network has pulled the final five episodes from its lineup and will instead release them digitally. According to the show’s official Tumblr, “The remaining episodes will roll out weekly on Nick.com and the Nick app beginning August 1, as well as on platforms like Amazon, Google Play, Xbox and Hulu.”

There’s not much in the way of an explanation so far—just lots of reassurance from co-creators Bryan Konietzko and Mike DiMartino that the show has not been canceled. Book Three has pulled in fewer viewers than previous seasons, but that could be due to Nickelodeon’s only advertising the premiere one week before its air date, along with burning off two episodes per week (with limited streaming options). For what it’s worth, Konietzko posted this photo on his personal Tumblr, promising more of the story during the show’s panel at Comic-Con.

“The Terror Within,” the final television episode (for now, maybe) of The Legend Of Korra, will air Friday, July 25 at 8 p.m. ET.
