Nickelodeon to start airing those Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen movies

Some bodies of work are too important to be allowed to rot away in someone’s closet. Presidential archives, for example, or the filmic works that have shaped our collective cinematic imaginations. Speaking of: Variety reports that Nickelodeon has acquired the rights to those Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen videos that were so ubiquitous in the ’90s and early ’00s, including four TV series, seven TV movies, and two music-video specials. “Nickelodeon has been at the forefront of kids entertainment for decades. We believe this is the perfect home for our library,” Ashley Olsen says, leaving the “and there’s nothing Bob Saget can do about it” part unspoken.

The preservation of this priceless time capsule will serve to inspire today’s youth—and aspiring stage moms—with the story of twin girls who were able to leverage their role on an ABC sitcom into a $100 million fortune by the age of 20. And, since the acquisition includes the direct-to-video You’re Invited To Mary-Kate & Ashley’s series, it will also educate children on the importance of putting it in the pizza.
