Nicolas Cage and Richard Kelly to combine crazy in movie that sounds only kinda crazy

In many ways, Richard Kelly and Nicolas Cage might just need each other like the desert needs the rain that suddenly turns into water portals, thus beginning the apocalypse. Both the Southland Tales director and the actor who somehow was not in that movie, even if he was made for delivering dialogue like, "Pimps don't commit suicide," seem to have a complementary, glorious disregard for internal logic, so it's perhaps inevitable that they would find each other. Yet oddly, and perhaps disappointingly, they've first chosen to collaborate on the true-crime tale Amicus, a film in which Nicolas Cage plays a real-life lawyer who does not, according to the synopsis, have a split personality or stumble upon a secret society of people attempting to manipulate time by training schools of fish to swim backwards. (Or whatever.) Instead, Cage will be fighting not sinister fish people, but rather the publishers of a manual for wannabe hit men that led to actual murders, when a former Motown exec hired a killer who used it as a guide. Which is a strange story, but not entirely a "Richard Kelly directs Nicolas Cage" kind of strange, so maybe keep an eye out for fish people in the third act.
