Nicolas Cage, Jack Black, and Steve Carell attached to Charlie Kaufman's next movie
Providing a brief respite from sci-fi and comic-book movie news, Charlie Kaufman has reportedly attracted Jack Black, Steve Carell, and his Adaptation collaborator Nicolas Cage to Frank And Francis, his first directorial effort since Synecdoche, New York (and not to be confused with the still-untitled film he’s working on with Spike Jonze). Kaufman has been prepping the project for a while, which is rumored to be a musical about a director’s war with the showbiz blogger who regularly insults him—clearly a fantasy, as directors rarely give any thought to what bloggers write about them, otherwise Brett Ratner or Dennis Dugan would have torched our offices years ago. No word yet on who will be playing what role, although it seems likely that Nicolas Cage would play the tormented director, as torment is sort of his thing.
