SundanceTV today unveiled the first photo of Nicole Kidman in second installment of Jane Campion’s Top Of The Lake, and shows the actress working a messy hairdo that looks styled by Helena Bonham Carter in character as Bellatrix Lestrange. Though details of Kidman’s character are still sparse, the photo does reveal that Campion still really enjoys putting Oscar winners in elaborate gray wigs.
According to the release, Kidman plays an “Australian mother” who will cross paths with Elisabeth Moss’ detective, Robin. This season—subtitled China Girl—concerns the mystery surrounding the death of an Asian girl, whose body washes up on Bondi Beach. Per the synopsis, “there appears little hope of finding the killer, until Robin realizes that ‘China Girl’ didn’t die alone.” Gwendoline Christie will also appear in the upcoming episodes, which are set to premiere next year.
