Nicole Kidman spat out Giada De Laurentiis’ focaccia on Ellen

Nicole Kidman is both an acclaimed actress who recently won plaudits for her work in Big Little Lies and the brutally honest talk show guest we need. Usually, etiquette demands that hosts and guests rave about the delicious food some celebrity chef concocted for a daytime TV appearance. Not Kidman. During a recent Ellen appearance, she took a labored bite of Giada De Laurentiis’ clementine and fennel focaccia—which, to be honest, sounds overwrought—and said: “It’s a little tough.”

De Laurentiis explained it’s been ”sitting there for five hours,” but Kidman wasn’t going let her off the hook. “I know you’re not meant to criticize,” she said, and then reiterated just how inedible it was. And then, not content to eat that shit, she spit it out. Admittedly, it’s hard not to feel a little sympathy for De Laurentiis. The segment was off the rails even before Kidman’s sick burn, and she cried, “Why do I even do a cooking segment? I don’t even know why I bother.”
