Nicole Kidman to play The Silent Wife
Nicole Kidman is set to produce and star in The Silent Wife, a film adaptation of this summer's popular novel published posthumously by A.S.A Harrison, weeks after her death from cancer. The novel—which benefited strongly from comparisons to Gone Girl, also headed for adaptation—follows an affluent Chicago couple whose troubled relationship ends in violence. Alternating between “his” and “hers” viewpoints, Penguin publishers describe the books as being about “ a marriage in the throes of dissolution, a couple headed for catastrophe, concessions that can’t be made, and promises that won’t be kept.” Deadline reports that Kidman’s production company, Blossom Films, has optioned the novel with Kidman presumably slated to star as the passive-aggressive wife—the kind of role she could play in her sleep. [Insert Tom Cruise joke here.]
