Even a regular old Decemberists show tends to get whimsical and elaborate, but here's a concept for those who don't like the rather awesome way the band can shift from a massive singalong version of "16 Military Wives" to the rambling intro of "The Island." According to a press release from Capitol Records, the band's "The Long And Short Of It" tour will feature at least two nights in each city–one for long songs, one for short songs. The tour begins October 28 at Chicago's Vic Theatre. Info and tickets here.
