The recent freeing of the toy slaves enacted by the Weinstein Company on its controversial Django Unchained action figures, as one would expect, only caused their value to skyrocket, driving would-be collectors to try their luck on the black market, then immediately regret saying “black market.” But if you still want to purchase a Django doll, don’t look to eBay: The auction site has made it clear it’s not an 8-inch slave auction site, banning all listings for the toys and informing their sellers via email, “Since the manufacturer of this product has discontinued the item’s sale due to its potentially offensive nature, we are not allowing it to be sold on eBay.” A spokesman for eBay confirmed to TMZ, “These [toys] were removed as they were in violation of our Offensive Materials policy,” which prohibits profiting from items that smack of racial intolerance. Perhaps eBay can instead interest you in some slave bills of sale, slave money, slave auction tokens, genuine slave shackles, or photos of whipped slaves? Or some super neat blackface bottle openers, moonshine jugs, salt-n-pepper shakers, and hey, even dolls? Just don't try to play Django with them, because that would be demeaning.
