No lie, 2 Chainz also said no to performing at Trump’s inauguration

The upcoming presidential inauguration will have little star power, as most reports coming out of the event involve the various musical acts that have turned down an invitation to perform. Trump’s team did recently manage to secure the necessary RSVPs from 3 Doors Down and Toby Keith, who, along with Jackie Evancho and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, should put on some kind of show. But the lure of being on stage with (some of) the Rockettes hasn’t proven strong enough for 2 Chainz, who’s just declined the inauguration gig offer.

In an Instagram video, the Based On A T.R.U. Story artist admits that, though he usually keeps such things to himself, he’s disappointed about never having been invited to the White House during President Barack Obama’s tenure. But neither his despondence nor the significant financial offer from Trump’s team is enough to get him to actually perform. The reason he was so eager about going to White House over the last year is because he knew he wouldn’t want to go once President Obama’s presidency ended (what did 2 Chainz know, and when did he know it?, we wonder). So we guess it’s back to the reality-show-contestant drawing board for the inauguration planning committee.
