Saying they think "the market for the movie is relatively weak," the state-run China Film Group has passed on showing Rush Hour 3 in Chinese theaters, despite the fact that it stars Jackie Chan, one of the nation's most beloved film stars. China's government selects only about 20 foreign films for screening a year, and has already picked up other recent American sequels like Spider-Man 3 and Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End, leading some—like Variety's Asian web site—to report that officials believe that the film (featuring Chan and Chris Tucker taking on a Chinese crime family) is "fundamentally anti-Chinese." That's kind of what we were thinking, only replace the word "Chinese" with "everything good."
