No skyscrapers are safe in this international trailer for Godzilla: Resurgence
We already saw a trailer for Godzilla: Resurgence—or Shin Godzilla in Japan—back in April that gave us a look at the mighty King Of The Monsters, but this new international trailer claims to feature “colossal spoilers” for the super-sized revival. The spoiler warning probably relates to a pretty devastating new power that Godzilla shows off in this trailer, because it’s all pretty standard stuff other than that. Godzilla stomps across Japan, tanks and helicopters futilely unload weaponry into the big guy, and men in suits look on in horror as their every plan fails spectacularly. Really, though, the men in suits don’t stand a chance this time around. Not only is Godzilla bigger than everything, that aforementioned new power is just absurdly destructive. Like, we wouldn’t be surprised if this movie were just about Godzilla wiping out every skyscraper on Earth.
Godzilla: Resurgence (which was co-directed by Neon Genesis Evangelion’s Hideaki Anno) will be in theaters in the Philippines on August 31, and it’ll hit the United States at some point later this year. Also, despite the name, it is completely unrelated to both Independence Day: Resurgence and Gareth Edwards’ 2014 Godzilla. It’s about a different Godzilla and a different resurgence.
